4.8 How do I measure distances on the chart?

You can use your E-Series display to obtain an accurate measurement of the distance

and bearing between two points.

To position the ruler

To position the start point:

1. Position the cursor over the first point.

2. Press the DATA button.

3. Select RULER. The ruler is displayed with the range and bearing from the start point

(A) to point B.

To position the end point:

4. ADJUST B is highlighted. Use the trackpad to move the cursor to the required posi-

tion for the end point. As you move the cursor the range and bearing is updated.

5. Press OK to fix the ruler position.

To reposition the ruler

To reposition either the start or end point of the ruler:

1. Press the appropriate ADJUST key and use the trackpad accordingly.

2. Press OK to fix the new positions.

To clear the ruler

Press CLEAR RULER, to remove the ruler from the screen.
